This solid brass astrolabe with an antique-style finish draws inspiration from the maritime instruments historically used for celestial navigation, particularly prominent in the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Measuring approximately four inches by five and one-quarter inches and weighing about seven ounces, this partially calibrated astrolabe features a traditional design that allowed mariners and surveyors to estimate latitude by sighting the star Polaris and reading its altitude.
