Biography: Artist Ephrem Kouakou, a native of the Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), has exhibited his work in the United States, France, Belgium and other nations. His paintings are representative of his strong spiritual-cultural development in his village in West Africa. His images are whimsical and evocative, filled with strong symbolism and characterizations. They speak of religion, fertility, introspection of the soul, family, community, tradition and evolution. Ephrem tells of having walked from his village to Algiers because of his strong calling to be an artist.
