High quality hand knotted semi antique Persian Bakhtiari runner. Size 3.6x9.5 feet, made of fine quality lamb's wool pile on cotton foundation, all natural vegetable dye, incorporating floral and hunting motifs on abrash red and dark tone background, center row of three large medallions and finished off beautifully with a floral border. Made by Bakhtiari nomadic tribes of western Iran. The approximate year of origin: 1980-1990. Bakhtiari is an ancient southwestern Iranian tribe. Bakhtiaris were nomaidc pastoralists and weaving rugs was and still is a unique way of expression and telling stories.
