Inspired by nature, Noah Desmond has an impressionistic style that borders the edge of abstraction.  He creates landscapes and florals with bold colors and a sense of movement that draw you deep into the work. His energetic compositions are rendered with vibrant color, vitality, and spontaneity. Noah’s textured canvases are created by layering pigments with both palette knife and brush, resulting in exciting landscapes, rich in depth and vibrancy.   Desmond captures the spirit and mystery of his surroundings within his loose brushstrokes by connecting the artist and viewer to a world within.  Using oil paint he makes each work evoke beauty and personality.  Finding inspiration in real life situations, his final result is a collage of thoughts and reality.  Noah applies layers of lines, forms and colors only knowing the work is complete when the many broken colors reveals his desired result.

This item is in excellent condition, only shown in a gallery. This painting is part of the artist's new series that she describes as Realism framed in Pop Aesthetic.  Utilizing the bold colors and lines of advertising and marketing as the backdrop, she positions her female figures as oblivious to the world around them.  She describes her work as in many ways, a love letter to city life and her female figures as a mirror image to daily life.  Artistically, in this new series, she is inspired by the tensions between the lines that create the composition and the emotive connotations of each form:  wavy (softness, freedom, harmony ...), horizontal (peace, rest, calm).  Through these works she can challenge herself through the various technical as well as psychological questions that arise when combining different forms of art, the underlying questions that remain when working in realism, abstraction, as well as pop. Griselda Ferrandez was born in the city of Barcelona, a cosmopolitan and open city. From her balcony she could contemplate the sea as well as watch the passing freight trains on their way to the mercantile port.  At a young age, Griselda was bedridden from heart disease that left her with only books and her balcony view to pass the time.  She remembers looking through books of painters and loved the way paintings transported her to a world of fantasy through color and line.   This early impression led her to want to become a painter herself.  From 1972 to 1975 she studied at the Massana Official School of Arts and Crafts in Barcelona, considered at that time an avant-garde art school. At the age of 18, she began to work in the painting studio where Spanish hyperrealist artist Jesus Navarro served as the artistic director.  They later fell in love, married, and had 3 children.  She proudly describes each child as gifted in the arts as well.       Since her first exhibition in 1978, Ferrendez has not stopped painting or experimenting with paint.  For a time, she even taught classes on Art Theory at the Tres en Raya school in Castelldefels, Barcelona. She has worked with pastels, acrylic, marble dust, oil, organic matter, collage, but throughout her experimentations, oil paint has always been her favorite, a material she describes as the “noblest and the most multifaceted.” Artist Griselda Ferrandez Title Reading is my First Love

His first was hosted at Las Casa de Cultura (The Cultural Center) of Girona, Catalonia, Spain.  One year later, Alvar had a second retrospective at the Castell de Benedormiens, in Castell d'Aro, Girona, Spain. Most recently, the Castell de Calonge in Girona, Spain recognized Alvar’s lengthy career from 1954 to 2016 with a retrospective titled, Una Vida Pintant (A Life of Painting). Homenage a Pau Casals Lithograph:  In 2006, a Spanish real estate and development company, which specialized in restoring historic buildings, began plans to renovate an avenue of older buildings in a suburb of Paris. Within the project they wanted to honor the late Pau Casals - famous Spanish born cellist and composer.  Alvar Suñol, who like Casals, was born in Catalonia (Spain) and lived and worked in Paris for a number of years where he gained fame as an artist, was selected to create a sculpture to permanently memorialize Pau Casals. Approaching ten feet tall, the bronze monument weighs over 2,000 pounds. After creating the grand sculpture that depicts Casal’s arm floating over the body of a cello, Alvar was inspired to create a lithograph honoring the life and career of Casals. This is an original limited-edition lithograph with embossing, created, signed and numbered by the artist. Limited-edition has been printed on Arches paper and has been numbered. Edition size: 1/250 - 250/250

Miguel Peidro possesses an innate sensitivity and knowledge of nature that clearly resonates in his work.  Its open and panoramic compositions completely immerse the viewer in the natural landscape, tempting you to go further through the worn tracks. Peidro says of his work, "My passion for painting and nature mix within myself. This is the reason why I paint landscapes. I find a lot of inspiration in my nature walks during my travels.” For Peidro, navigating these landscapes awakens the viewer to the picturesque beauty one finds in nature. His works are windows to the world that connect the viewer with the spirit and color of the natural world.

Manuel Lorente is a contemporary artist from Valencia, Spain. Since a young child Lorente describes being mesmerized and drawn to art.  He fondly recalls that his family took him to many exhibitions throughout Spain and Europe and these memories fostered his passion for art and led him to decide to pursue a career as a professional artist. He studied at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Trades in Valencia where his technical painting and drawing skills were more fully developed.  Lorente describes the port and beaches close to his home as a major inspiration and the model from which he loves to paint.  He states, “the sunrise, the light at sunset in spring and autumn by the ocean are moments that especially attract me.”  In addition, he describes artists like Carmen Laffón and Pinazo as other art inspirations.  Lorente’s tranquil beaches and port paintings utilize color, texture, and light to create a sensory experience for the viewer.  In each of his works he tries to not only create a beautiful visual experience for the viewer, but also aims to conjure the sensations of being transported to these destinations.  He states, “I try to recreate the environment or sensation that the motif produces in me at the moment of capturing it.” Lorente hopes that viewers experience a similar sensation, a calling from the ocean and nature.

This item is a numbered Giclee. Framed. José Miguel Román Francés was born on January 2, 1950 in Alcoy, Alicante (Spain). At the age of fourteen he began to paint in the workshop of Gaspar Francés Rico. Rico became more of a friend than a teacher, and his work influenced Francés’ artistic formation. Román Francés achieves an overall effect of harmony, peace, and great beauty with his superb draftsmanship.  Each piece is filled with the feeling of light that he manages to reflect in everything he paints.  His paintings are employed lavishly, with dense buildups in the floral groupings and landscapes surrounding the female figures and children, which are the core and focus from which all else radiates. Francés' work reflects his love for nature and his Spanish heritage, frequently depicting the female figure with traditional silk shawls that radiate with the colors and floral patterns of his native country. His impressionistic brushstroke never lets him get too closely bound up in his encounters with the female figure; yet, he depicts her in minute details when appropriate. The colors he uses are perfectly balanced and controlled within their light-giving power. In 1965 he exhibited his first painting in the Salon de Otoño in Alcoy. The following year he moved to Madrid, where he remained for five years experiencing the culture of this region. In 1971 he returned to Alcoy, where he has lived ever since. In 1976 he presented his first individual exhibition in Catalonia, beginning an extensive series of exhibitions. His work can be found in many important public and private collections in over 30 countries, including the United States, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Great Britain, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Mexico and Canada. He has had more than 60 personal exhibitions and had participated in many collective ones. His work has been featured in several major cities of his native Spain, as well as in many prestigious galleries outside of Spain - Lisbon, Brussels, Mexico City, Miami, New York, and Santa Fe, just to name a few. Several books have been published about the life and work of the artist. In one of them, titled “Román Francés – Master of Pictorial Light”, Josep Cadena, journalist, chief-editor and art critic, analyzed the artist’s work: “Painting the way Román Francés paints is a quest for connecting with something of interest – a landscape, a female figure, a flower arrangement – and achieving a kind of transcendence of what is sought for expression in accordance with its natural way of being.” Román Francés’ paintings are also featured in other publications; his widespread recognition earned him the honor to commission paint several large historical illustrations in a book about Ethiopia which was published in several countries. This painting is in excellent condition and has only been shown in a gallery.  Federico López Córcoles was born in the Alicante region of Spain in 1970. This area is well-known for its artistic tradition, producing world renowned skilled artists. He studied drawing and painting at the Escuela Permanente de Adultos (EPA) San Carlos from 1995 to 2001 in Ontinyent, a Valencian community in Spain. At this time, he also got involved in working in  the Association of Art 92 in Bocairent, another Valencian municipality, as well as in the Association “Font d’Art” in Ontinyent. By participating in these associations, López was able to exhibit his works to a broader audience in multiple group exhibitions  from 1995 to 2012 around the Valencia region. Also, the exposure to many painters in the Valencian area through these associations and exhibitions allowed him to experiment with his style and developed his artistic vision into what we see today. López utilizes bold brushstrokes and a bright color palette in order to convey the dimensionality and tonality of his subject. It is the variant of bright colors, not hues or tones, that add depth to his works. Color and the linework of his brushstrokes work together to form an image, composed with decisiveness and accuracy. He continues to work on his art and exhibit in Spain today.

This painting was inspired by Antonio's visit to Atlanta for his "Balletomane" show in 2018. Antonio Torres is an artist from Alicante, Spain. Balletomane, defined as a ballet enthusiast, aptly describes Torres’ devotion to dance. Throughout his evolution as a painter, he has dedicated himself to one recurring theme: ballet. Dancers from all over the world showcase graceful poses and elegant costumes in each captivating painting. Fascinated with ballerinas’ patterns of movement and psychological dedication, Torres skillfully captures their mastery of performance by depicting their varied demeanors both on and off the stage. While Torres portrays notable dancers from all over the world, his work is categorized into three distinct series and each inspired by a different ballerina. The Contrasts series provide striking distinctions between light and shade frequently placed in intimate settings. Blue Dream paintings convey the beauty of ballet through various expressionistic techniques, while the Blue Rainbow series incorporates surrealism to depict dreamlike performances. Through this diversity, Torres captures the multifaceted aspects of ballet and its dedicated performers. Torres personalizes private moments, and this exclusive access to intimate views offstage are a hallmark of his work. Aware of the rare circumstances accessed to him via his friendships with numerous ballerinas, Torres graciously remarks, “I thank God for having the opportunity to be surrounded by so many talents behind the scenes.” Though visually divergent, Contrasts, Blue Dream, and Blue Rainbow unite in inviting viewers behind the scenes to share his intimate point of view.
