Lot Details

11 Silver nickels.  During the early months of WWII the critical need for nickels and copper required the Treasury Dept. to sustitute other metals for the scarce elements.  On Oct 8, 1942 the new nickels composed of 56% copper , 35% Silver and 9% Manganese were released.  These "Silver Nickels" were issued until the old compositon of 75% coppper and 25% nickls was revived in 1946.

A great collection with alot of history.  Coins are circulated.
