"Lake Giverny" Monet Inspired Tapestry
Claude Monet's painting of his lily pond at Giverny is transformed into this beautiful dramatic jacquard tapestry woven in Belgium. Monet painted many scenes from his home at Giverny which sits on the right bank of the River Seine where the river Epte meets the Seine. In 1890 he bought the house and land outright and proceeded to create the magnificent gardens he envisioned for the famous group of paintings of the place. In this work, Monet retained a subtle linear perspective channeling the eye into depth; conserving a characteristic of naturalistic painting where the picture plane is conceived as a window through which one looks at a tree dimensional view.
This tapestry is Belgium made, jacquard woven with relief stitch. Fully lined with rod pocket for hanging.
Cotton and rayon.
