Perseus and Pegasus prepare to take flight. Greek mythology tells many tales of Perseus exploits as the hero who battled and defeated many monsters. The most popular tale is that of him slaying the Gorgon Medusa. Perseus was the son of Zeus and thus a god in his own right. Many famous images of him feature the decapitated head of Medusa. Pegasus was his trusty sidekick. This sculpture depicts Perseus clutching Pegasus mane, as Pegasus gallops at full speed, preparing to take flight. He lifts Perseus from the ground. Slung over his side is the head of Medusa, Perseus souvenir from their lethal battle. This sculpture brings out the intriguing beauty in Pegasus. Each feather of his wide strong wings can be traced. You can see the lines of his muscles in his legs and the curl of his wild hair. This sculpture would make the perfect gift for any mythology enthusiast. This 100% bronze brown patina sculpture was cast using the Lost Wax Method and mounted on a marble base. Dimensions: Height 18 X Width 12 inches. Weight: 35 LBS.
