There is a lot of sparkle in this heavy parcel! Sourced from the Congo, these exotic gems glitter and pop under glistening lusters. This collection features a strong assortment of shapes and color variations of this notorious gem type, and is a must for collectors. In 2002 these gems hit the market and were advertised by JTV as untreated, and for awhile were backed by the GIA, until private gemologists started testing them and revealed that they were indeed treated. These examples are all treated. The most common treatment is copper diffusion to create their beautiful shades of red. This is a fun collection with an interesting history.
