Lot Details
This handmade tachi sword features a high-carbon steel blade forged with traditional clay tempering and water quenching. The sword measures approximately 40.5 inches overall, with a 27.6-inch blade and a 10.2-inch handle, constructed with full-tang assembly, brass habaki and seppa, sakura-themed alloy fittings, and an handle wrap. Tachi swords predate the katana and were widely used by mounted samurai from the Heian through early Muromachi periods, typically worn edge-down as a symbol of status and battlefield function.
