Lot Details
The tanto, a short sword design rooted in the Heian period of Japan over a thousand years ago, was originally carried by samurai as a sidearm for close combat. This piece carries forward the vintage-style craftsmanship and traditional methods used in historical Japanese sword making. This is a hand-forged mini katana tanto sword with a full tang carbon steel blade, traditionally crafted through annealing, tempering, water quenching, and hand polishing. It measures approximately 16.5 inches in total length, with a 9.25-inch blade, a 5.5-inch handle, and a blade width of about 1 inch. The cutter head is made of copper.
