Joanmiquel Font was born in Olot, Spain in 1964.  

Requiring little schooling, Font began his painting career under the supervision of artist Àngel Codinach, where he learned the traditional style of the region.  Following he studied under Danésjordi to hone his watercolor skills.  After years of learning, evolving and experimenting he settled into his abstract style using all that nature has to offer.

Each piece consists of the relationship nature boasts between the sky, the earth and the volcano – Font’s muse.  Growing up in the volcanic region of La Garrotxa, has taken the look of his surroundings and placed them onto an artistic surface.

Always drawn to the volcanic colors of his homeland, he continually discovers different tonalities that he incorporates into his work.  He feels that “nature is generous with her colors”.  By using various materials Font creates a pastiche of what nature has shown him.

Font has exhibited his art since 1988 throughout Spain.
