Although pyrite gets its name from the Greek word "pyros" meaning fire, since they can be used to make sparks by striking them on hard surfaces, you definitely won't want to strike these beautiful pieces. They exhibit gorgeous gold pyrite veins that swirl through their quartz matrix with superb lusters that bathe them in a metallic glow. They have great size, measuring about 24.1mm x 12.7mm x 3.1mm, and have a Mohs hardness rating of 6.5-7.5 out of 10, giving you the choice of displaying them, or setting them. Sourced from Russia.
