Lot Details
Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 - April 15, 1865) was the 16th President of the United States. He served from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. He was an outspoken opponent of the expansion of slavery and this led to the first Republican nomination, followed by his win in 1860. He successfully led the troubled nation through its greatest internal crisis, the American Civil War. He saw through to the ending of slavery, rededicating the nation to nationalism, equal rights, liberty and democracy. In 1865, John Wilkes Booth, a Confederate spy from Maryland, snuck into Ford’s Theater, where the President was viewing a play, and shot and killed the 16th President. His Presidency was truly historical in more ways than one. Honest Abe is one of the most recognized Presidents in American history. This bust sculpture presents Lincoln with his iconic beard, slicked over hair, suit and bow tie. 100% bronze and handmade, this brown patina sculpture was cast using the "Lost Wax Method" and mounted on a marble base.
