$5 187_ BOND WITH COUPONS At the close of the Civil war the government imposed tax on state banks. The state of Louisiana issued these "baby bond" notes to avoid paying taxes.  Every person was aware that these were worth the same as federally approved currency. Consecutive Notes  are Uncirculated with a little bit of fraying on one of the bottom margins.
