1878-8TF Morgan Dollar  circ.  The 8 Tail Feather Variety is the first Morgan minted, and a rare variety.  The Audubon Society was quick to point out that Eagles have only 7 Tail feathers.  Both Congress and the Mint were quick to react, and convert to 7 TF (hence the creation of the 7 over 8 variety), then continue with only the 7 TF variety.
