This is an extremely clean and extremely large example of this exceedingly rare gem type. Gem grade Oligoclase weighing up to five carats are scarce, and this one weighs over seventeen and a half carats! This collectors gem has a sea green hue with light saturation resembling an aquamarine, and is tightly faceted resulting in a strong mix of confetti and liquid flashing for a non-stop display. It has substantial size, measuring 18.2mm x 14mm x 10.9mm, and phenominal clarity. Oligoclase have a Mohs hardness rating of 6-6.5 out of 10, ( about the same as tanzanite ) so this gem is recommended for collectors, and is not material for novice gem setters. Sourced from Portugal. Untreated.
