It has a pinkish red hue with a strong violet backbone that gives this gem incredible depth, and creates the plum/raspberry color that is coveted by collectors. This gem is graded as a true rubelite, as its remarkable color palette is not effected by changes in light, and keeps the same hue in sunlight as well as indoors. This very large example measures an impressive 14.5mm x 11mm x 5.6mm, and exhibits a superior luster with mirror qualities. This quality gem has a Mohs hardness rating of 7.5 out of 10, making it as durable as it is beautiful, and perfect for every day wear. It was sourced from Mozambique, Africa, and is unheated.
