1932-S Washington Quarter NGC AG-03, Key date. Originally, the Washington Quarter was intended to be a one-year circulating Commemorative, to celebrate the 200 year anniversary of George Washington birth.. Therefore, sufficient quantities were made of the Philadelphia issue to meet circulation demands, however, quantities of the D and S issues were only sufficient to meet collectors needs for P/D/S sets. When Washington subsequently became the circulating Quarter issue, the 1932 D and S became instant rarities.
