Tranquil Oil Painting by Acevedo
Original oil on canvas entitled Contraluz Backlight by Miguel Acevedo. Artwork measures 15 x 21 inches unframed and includes a custom built brown and gold accented frame as shown in the photographs. Framed dimensions are approximately 24 x 30 inches. Miguel Acevedo grew up near Cordoba, Spain. His artistic career began when he won a drawing competition. From that point on, he seriously pursued artmaking and traveled around Spain to conjure up inspiration. His works suspend the viewer in time, causing them to focus on one captured moment. His techniques produce sensory effects, as if one could hear the cattle huffing or the trees swaying in the wind. He creates a scene in which the viewer can only react - our senses and emotions rise as we look through his window. Acevedo is an artist who truly understands the physical world around him and is able to translate this knowledge into his paintings. Acevedo?s bucolic scene presents cattle caravans crossing a body of water. The workers are working together to get everyone across. This collaboration shows the stamina of the working man and his resolve to leave no man behind. Acevedo?s use of light creates a bright setting that eases the viewer. The bright colors harmonize with the use of light to convey levity of the circumstances. For the workers, it is not burdensome labor; it?s a communal effort to reach a goal.
