Lot Details
The Roman legion soldier stands nude, except for some regalia, looking to the horizon of a scarred battlefield. On the top of his head, he wears a galea, which is a soldier helmet. A baldric straps across his chest which is a leather belt typically used to carry a weapon. His paludamentum, which is a Greek usually fastened to one shoulder, slides down his back falling in between his legs. A shield rests on shins as he fashions to repair a weapon. The bronze sculpture was cast using the age-old method of lost-wax casting and stained with a brown and gold patina finish for perpetuation and mounted upon a marble base. Dimensions: Height 16 X Width 10 inches. Weight: 18 LBS.
